The China Apparel Association has released the "2017-2018 China garment industry development report" (hereinafter referred to as the report). The report predicts that in 2018, China's casual wear brands will compete in the Chinese market and international brands in an all-around way, and the demand for product fashion and high performance price ratio will continue to improve.

According to the content of the report, in 2017, facing the new situation of international demand and domestic economic stability, China's garment industry constantly deepened the structural reform of the supply side, promoted the effective implementation of the "three products" strategy, and maintained the development trend of "stable, medium to good, stable and medium quality" as a whole, and the overall quality of the industry was greatly improved.

According to the China Apparel Association estimates, in 2017, the total garment output of the whole society in China was about 45 billion 600 million, an increase of 3.17% over the same period, including 17 billion 500 million woven garments and 28 billion 100 million knitted garments, representing an increase of 2.94% and 3.31% respectively over the same period.

However, the trend of volume rise and fall is obvious. Since 2017, the price fluctuation of RMB against the US dollar and the rising cost have intensified the competition in Southeast Asia and other countries.

The report shows that there is a two level differentiation in the field of clothing consumption in China. On the one hand, the oversupply of popular products and fierce competition; on the other hand, the supply of high-end products is insufficient, and the supply and demand mismatches inhibit consumption.

The report predicts that the clothing industry in 2018 will remain a "steady, healthy, stable and good" development trend.

Among them, men's clothing consumption began to develop in the direction of practicality, fashion, sports and styling. More attention should be paid to brand fashion taste, product quality and quality experience service. Women's clothing brand pformation will be intensified, and casual wear brands will compete in the Chinese market with international brands.

The report points out that 2018 will be a year of accelerated development of Intelligent Manufacturing in garment industry.

At present, the leading enterprises of intelligent manufacturing have completed the digitalization of traditional production lines and entered the stage of digitalization and networking upgrading. Through the application of Internet, cloud computing, Internet of things, intelligent robots and other technologies in the production process, the "digitalization", "Agility" and "flexibility" of the production process have been realized.
