Smart Textiles

In recent years, with the development of intellectualization, electronic products miniaturization, flexibility and textile technology, intelligent textiles have been enriching product categories and widening the application fields, and gradually accepted by the market and consumers, becoming one of the important development directions of textile and clothing in the future. This paper introduces 4 examples of development of smart textiles, with a view to providing reference for readers to analyze the development status and future trends of smart textiles worldwide.

The world's first smart networking shirt

A foreign R & D team launched a smart shirt called 10eleven9, claiming to be the first shirt in the world to be networked. A magnetic element is installed on the chest of the clothes, and the customer can replace the built-in sensor module by itself, such as a built-in biosensor, which can vibrate to correct the posture or posture of the wearer.

The matching phone APP can also monitor heart rate, breathing and posture. Not only that, it can also take pictures, and the wearer can answer the phone and touch the Bluetooth headset automatically by touching the buttons of the corresponding buttons on the clothes. The other version is equipped with 8 million DPI wireless wide-angle lens, which can be photographed by touching buttons and built in microphone. At present, clothes are in the crowd raising stage, and the booking price is 149 euros.

Smart clothing with human body information sensor

The COCOMI developed by Dongyang textile is an integrated thin film sheet of sensor electrode and wiring. It is made of copolyester "Hylon" film coated with conductive paste, and its thickness is only 0.3 mm. When touching the skin, the electrodes and wiring also extend along with the skin because of the action of the human body. Even if the elongation is more than 2 times, the wire will not be broken. If you add hardware, you can create a unique "sensory monitoring" element, which can be used to measure people's electrocardiogram, respiration, skin temperature, sweating and blood pressure. The wiring made of conductive paste also has a tensile property of 100 ohm cm.

Compared with the conductive fiber sensor, the shape and configuration of the electrode and wiring are not limited. The design is easy to attach through hot pressing, and the design freedom of the clothing is high. Through the sensory measurement technology, the human body information with higher accuracy can be obtained.

Textiles capable of monitoring heart rate

Jabil Circuit cooperated with smart clothing manufacturer Peak, heart rate monitor producer Suunto, and sports fitness and health physiological analysis company Firstbeat to jointly launch textiles that monitor heart rate. Peak is responsible for developing clothing and textiles embedded in electronic components to ensure comfort, durability and convenience. Suunto is responsible for wireless transmitters, transmitting accurate data collected from clothing sensors to smart phones, providing equipment for tracking and monitoring heart rate data. Firstbeat gives patents for analyzing heart rate monitoring data, and accordingly proposes plans to ease tension and restore wearers' physical strength. At present, the proposed heart rate solution should also consider the market's acceptance and consumption ability, and provide comfort, fashion and health care products.

   Magic carpet

An interdisciplinary team composed of Manchester (Manchester) University Quantum Science Association and 3 other academic institutes has developed a magic carpet that detects human activity and falls. They lay plastic optical fiber on the bottom of the carpet. When someone stepped on it, the fibers would bend and reflect their walking patterns in real time. The tiny electronic device on the edge of the carpet acts as an inductor to transmit signals to the computer. Through analysis, the computer can get the image of the footprint and recognize the gentle change or sudden change of the step, such as falling or tripping. It can also show the steady deterioration or change of walking habits, and can predict a dramatic episode, such as wrestling. The team believes that the technology can be used to make smart carpets in sanatorium or hospital wards, and can also be installed in residents' homes if necessary.
