Under the wave of digitalization, Huawei is in a rush. From cloud services, artificial intelligence, to network and low-carbon development, Huawei is attacking in all directions. Among them, the cloud business of Huawei has attracted much attention, and it is also one of the focuses of this year's Huawei full connection conference.
On September 23, Huawei released a series of new cloud products on the first day of the conference. It includes the first distributed cloud native product in the industry, Huawei cloud UCS (ubiquitous cloud native service). Huawei also announced the official opening of services in Mexico and Ulanqab, China, and released ten new services, including Huawei cloud Kaitian apaas and Huawei cloud sky research AI solver. From the new product release point of view, Huawei cloud is increasing investment in PAAS layer outside the infrastructure layer.
Since this year, Huawei's cloud organizational structure has been adjusted many times, and new strategic planning has also been carried out. In response, Zhang Ping An, CEO of Huawei cloud and President of consumer cloud services, said in an interview with 21st century economic report that: "The new cloud organizational structure is no longer only aimed at single cloud service areas, such as computing services and storage services. Now we have established three business departments for cloud business scenarios, namely, public cloud domain, partner cloud domain, and Huawei cloud stack domain. Focusing on the three business scenarios of cloud demand, we will further increase ecological investment in the future."
While Huawei's cloud continues to change, the cloud computing market is also surging, and the competition at home and abroad is becoming increasingly fierce. Under the pressure from overseas and fierce competition from Alibaba cloud, Tencent cloud and other peers in China, how to further differentiate Huawei cloud has attracted attention.
Huawei's cloud continues to change and add code ecology
After four years of development, Huawei cloud has gathered more than 2.3 million developers, more than 14000 consulting partners, more than 6000 technology partners and more than 4500 products in the cloud market. According to Gartner's 2020 report, Huawei cloud is the fastest growing cloud in the IAAs market, and has grown into the second largest cloud service provider in China and the top 5 in the world.

Cloud computing is the direction that technology companies must grasp, and it is also one of Huawei's strategic directions. Previously, Huawei announced that it would invest $220 million in "fertile land project 2.0" in 2021 to attract developers and build ecology.
On the other hand, Huawei cloud itself has undergone many structural adjustments. On April 9, Huawei announced internally that Xu Zhijun, the rotating chairman of Huawei, was appointed chairman of Huawei cloud, and Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei consumer BG, was appointed CEO of Huawei cloud. Previously, Huawei had cancelled the cloud and computing BG and renamed it "cloud bu" and appointed Zhang Ping An as president of cloud bu. Then in May, Huawei issued an internal document saying that with the approval of the president, Yu Chengdong was removed from the post of Huawei cloud CEO, and Zhang Ping'an was appointed as Huawei cloud CEO.
Whether it is the independent development of cloud business and computing business, or the change of organizational structure, Huawei is stimulating more internal vitality. Some insiders have analyzed to the reporter that Huawei has such a huge volume and its business is very complex. Now that it is facing a blow, the main business's support for the cloud business is hindered, while the cloud business is still in the investment period, so it is appropriate to carry out an improved reform.
Global competition of six sects
At present, there are many competitors in the cloud computing market, and cloud manufacturers all over the world have started a new round of competition.
From the perspective of global market, Dai Kun, chief analyst of Forrester, told 21st century economic reporter that according to the forecast report made by Forrester in 2019, although the growth rate of global public cloud market will slow down, it will still maintain a growth rate of nearly 30%. In the field of infrastructure and platform services, AWS and azure are still in the top two places in the world, including Google cloud and Alibaba cloud.
In the domestic market, all kinds of princes meet. In Forrester wave report on public cloud development and infrastructure platform manufacturers evaluation in China released by Forrester Q4 in 2020, Alibaba cloud, Huawei cloud and Tencent cloud are in the market leader camp by comprehensively considering the relevant capabilities of the two dimensions of product capability strategy; JD cloud, Microsoft azure, baidu smart cloud and AWS are in the camp of outstanding performers; Inspur cloud, Jinshan cloud and Ping'an cloud are in the competitive camp; China Telecom Tianyi cloud and ucloud are in the potential Challenger camp.
AWS, azure, Google cloud, Alibaba cloud, Huawei cloud and Tencent cloud have become the six major sects in the cloud computing battlefield. Among them, AWS occupies the largest market share, and the latecomers sacrifice their lives to catch up with them. The domestic Alibaba cloud continues to attack cities and areas, and Tencent's team of more than 10000 people quickly benchmarked. Previously, Zhang Ping'an once said in an interview with reporters that Huawei cloud is developing rapidly and has its own differentiation advantages. Huawei specializes in hardware infrastructure, has a deep accumulation of connection, computing and storage technologies, and has a sudden emergence of intelligent terminals.
